Griffis Air Force Base Jet Engine Building Demolition

Owner: United States Government

Location: Rome, New York

Facility Type: Government Testing

Wargo was contracted to demolish, and crush/recycle concrete, a three story Jet Engine/Turbine Testing Building on the Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York.  The building’s walls were all steel reinforced concrete that ranged between ten and twelve feet thick. Following demolition, all concrete was sized, processed, prepared and recycled through our concrete crushing operation to produce a recycled concrete aggregate.  This material was placed back into any voids from the building footprint and compacted.  Dust suppression (electric turbines and water misters) was also critical since this building was set on an active Air Force Base and next to the hangars and run ways.
